VoIP Phone Adapter Advantages

Switching to a VoIP (voice over internet protocol) service provider can be with the best decisions that you can make if you are looking to have a great phone service and save money at the same time. When you switch to VoIP costs can be quite minimal especially if you use a VoIP phone adapter. A VoIP phone adapter is a device that connects to your regular home phone and then into your modem, through this you can then make VoIP calls using your home phone. Here are some of the advantages of using a VoIP phone adapter:

Probably the most obvious advantage of using a VoIP phone adapter is that you do not have to pay for a VoIP phone (however you can do this if you feel that you would like to). Using atelephone adapter means that you can continue using your own home phone and still benefit from a great VoIP service. There are many different types of VoIP phone adapter and you will be able to that meets your budget and your requirements exactly. If you are just a regular household you can buy a VoIP phone adapter that will just have standard features on it, such as caller ID and call waiting etc. You will not be expected to buy an expensive VoIP phone adapter that supports features that you will not use at home. Businesses can buy a VoIP phone adapter that has three-way conferencing on it which is very important if you conduct a lot of business via the telephone. Businesses can also benefit from a VoIP telephone adapter that has several different telephone ports and a port for a fax machine. This means that a business can buy a single VoIP telephone adapter and run two or three phones and a fax machine through a single adapter. However larger businesses can buy a VoIP telephone adapter which supports even more telephone lines, although these are obviously more expensive than any adapter with fewer ports. There is now a huge choice of VoIP phone adapter equipment and buying your VoIP phone adapter online is the ideal way to get a good deal and see everything that manufacturers have to offer. VoIP telephone adapter manufacturers realise that many of the people who will be buying their products are regular households and with this in mind there are adapted to suit every size of budget. Don’t be put off buying a VoIP telephone adapter if you think that it will cost a great deal of money, you can pick some very good adapters up for around – online. If you want to keep your regular phone line in addition to your VoIP line you can buy a VoIP telephone adapter that will allow you to switch between the two services with ease.

The Rewards of adding VOIP

Maximizing revenue and containing expenses is crucial for any business not only to stay and survive but to further grow and prosper. Phone and telecommunications facility is one area where business houses can avail updated technology to augment marketing efforts to result in increased sales. For years together, organizations were using only analog telephones for all business communications.

Now the scenario is rapidly changing with the advent of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) facility. VOIP is produced by transferring voice into digital data over the Internet. Because the data is smaller compared to a standard electric unit, VoIP users save on valuable bandwidth as well. VOIP technology is on the rise and major corporations are transferring their business needs over to VOIP.

The multiple features of VoIP such as ring waiting, caller ID, Internet faxing, three-way conferencing and multiple call lines are all aimed at reducing communication expenses. VOIP can be used with Instant Messengers with their voice calling features including MSN, Google Talk and Skype. Furthermore, VOIP is capable of being integrated with all Internet based applications and services – such as file sharing, video/audio conferencing, and other similar services and applications.

VOIP systems can incorporate all telephone needs with computer applications such as email, fax, web conferencing and videophone needs. This saves time and energy by combining all of the services into one basic application. Because of the integration between VoIP and the Internet, many service providers will allow you to access and control all of your VoIP phone features through the Internet.

VOIP is decidedly cheaper as one can use VOIP to reduce cost on long distance and local telephone calls. Many VOIP providers have plans that allow unlimited local and long distance calling. Signing up with VoIP providers is simple for those who already have an Internet connection. You then need to purchase an equipment called VOIP phone adapter to avail VOIP facility. Most of the VoIP service providers will supply the needed hardware. You also have the option of purchasing phones designed for VoIP as well as Videophones compatible with the VoIP technology.

Another major attraction is what may be described as portability. VOIP users can take their phone adapters wherever they go, use their telephone number anywhere provided they have access to Internet connection. This includes traveling overseas, while staying in hotels, or even holidaying. VoIP is an ideal solution for those with active lifestyles whose expense of cell phones are high as well as for those whose jobs require constant travel.

If you wish to enjoy unlimited long distance calling and lower monthly phone bills, a good idea is to make a list of your needs, wants and features in a phone, compare plans and choose the service provider whose offer best fits your needs. If you have high-speed Internet connection, you can take calls on your regular number. As VOIP technology is steadily advancing, one can expect more and more VOIP accessories like VOIP headsets, VOIP headphones to come into the market in the foreseeable future.

SECURITY OF VoIP versus Traditional Telephony – What are the threats and how to overcome them

VOIP Security

WHAT IS PSTN?
PSTN or POTS which stands for Public Switch Telephone Network is the standard telephone connection to the majority of us today, and has been the sole providing system since the telephone made its way to the users.

These systems have dedicated lines (circuit switched) and are governed by technical standards created by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T).

WHAT IS VoIP?
This is a protocol which is optimized for the transmission of voice through the internet. It is referred to as IP telephony, Internet telephony, cvoice over broadband, broadband telephony and broadband phone.

There is a suite of IP-based communications service and provides multimedia communications over the IP networks (which internet is a part of, but not limited to such).

VOIP operates over any IP network and not just the internet and it provides a low-cost alternative to PSTN calling system.

PSTN versus VoIP
Publich Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) uses a SS7 signaling protocol (Signaling System # 7) and is a circuit-switched network (ATM/Frame relay). It is a pretty expensive infrastructure based system but provides reliable quality of transmission.

Voice Over IP (VoIP) uses SIP, H.232, RTP and more protocols for its transmission of data. It is a packet switched network system which is based on a converged infrastructure, and has up till now at least a unreliable quality of transmission, and highly dependent upon where you and receiver are located globally, regionally and locally.

Traditional features we are used to over the telephone systems are call waiting, caller ID, transfer of calls, Three-way calling, conference call capabilities. IN addition to these features VoIP will be able to provide business application integration with for instance tying IP telephony to a Customer Relation Market database (CRM).

It will also be possible to do calendar integration with desktop applications like MS Outlook for instance.

You can get detailed information about each caller and use of mobility – “follow-me-service” which makes it possible for users to work from anywhere.

VoIP benefits are the traditional argument about costs of course, but the scalability of system is a far better argument when it comes to business use of VoIP.

It provides a simplified network engineering concept and makes it possible to do applications integration.

MARKET PENETRATION AND USE
Today there are several alternatives like Skype, Vonage, Google Talk and MS Messenger to mention a few and it is bound to be more available in the years to come, but also the functionalities of existing applications will increase dramatically according to user market.

Today less than 2% of user market used VoIP in 2005, it increased to aroud 10% in 2009, and is expected to increase to around 18 percent in 2011.

This increase in market share of VoIP over traditional telephone systems will require systems to handle this amount of users which is expected to be around 300 million users in 2011.

When we look at the penetration of VoIP in various markets around the world, some interesting facts comes to the surface.

The market share of VoIP in Japan is estimated to around 62.5% today, as for North America it is estimated to around 16 percent, in France the market share is around 11% and in Italy 4.5 percent. Germany has a market penetration for VoIP of around 2 percent and the Netherlands follows with 1 percent, as for Sweden and Norway they have a market penetration of VoIP of around 0.5% each.

The U.S VoIP subscribers are spread over 7 major service providers like Comcast , Time Warner, Vonage, Cablevision, Charter, Bright House and 8×8 which is supposedly the largest with around 3.2 million subscribers in the U.S, closely followed by Time Warner and Vonage each with around 2.4 million subscribers.

In Europe there has been a dramatic increase in households utilizing VoIP as telephone system. We can see the largest penetration in the household market in France with around 48% followed by Netherlands with around 35%. Norway comes in on third place with around 22% as for the other countries lies around 10% each in average.

IBIS World 2012 estimates that the U.S will have approximately 25.4 million VoIP subscribers in 2012.

VoIP equipment revenue development from 2007 to 2011 is prognosed to go from 3.5 billion USD to around 8 billion USD by the end of 2011.

CONCERNS
There have been raised concerns about VoIP systems amongst users, and especially business clients have been concerned.

Integrity of systems is one concern as voice quality should be excellent and the availability should be 365/24/7 dial-tone.

The confidentiality is another concern raised by business users, as all communication should remain confidential.

Authenticity is a factor ranked high as valid subscribers should be able to access the service provider’s network. And last but not least the regulatory compliance issue is a must. This also makes the need for corporate best practice documentation and routines.

SECURITY THREATS
There are security threats to an IP network which VoIP uses. These threats are of a widespread type. It could be denial of service attacks, called DDOS attacks, Spoofing (caller ID), voice alteration (hijacking) and toll fraud (theft of service). All these types of threats can result in the loss of privacy and integrity of users on VoIP.

You also have the chance of SPIT (Spam over Internet Telephony or VoIP). You will also have the chance of being exposed to advertising that appears in a VoIP voice mailbox. Then there is the chance of Vishing which is the process of persuading users to reveal personal information.

SECURITY MEASURES
So, certain security measures need to take place before serious business use of VoIP systems can take place.

Use of Encryption and VPN systems will become a necessity as well as the use of Digital Certificates. There needs to be a separate VoIP network from the data network in a company or in a household. Computer systems need to have installation of Intrusion Prevention Systems and Firewalls. Use of Session Border Controllers (threshold policy rules) will have to take place. There is a need to implement a campaign to make awareness on using high-risk programs that expose the company or household to outside attacks.

To day, not a single virus is reported that is specific to attack or infect the VoIP packets. However, this will come without a shadow of a doubt.

Hosted VoIP Services ? Hosted IP Telephony Systems

Business communication has undergone some rapid changes since the 1970’s when PBX systems were the most advanced business communication technology available. Contemporary businesses of all sizes have upgraded to the diverse and powerful features enabled by hosted VoIP services.

Hosted VoIP works by sending digitised voice signals across a broadband internet connection. These signals are sent to an IP platform where they are directed to the intended destination – either another VoIP user or a regular phone on a PSTN network. The calls and transmission of data is quick, reliable and economical and when coupled with the advanced user features of VOIP, hosted IP telephony is a formidable force for business communication.

Advanced features of Hosted VoIP
Hosted VoIP solutions can be tailor-made to fit any business requirements. PBX phone replacement systems (or SIP Trunking solutions) allow those businesses not quite ready to change their entire system to VoIP to have access to the use of some VoIP telephony systems. A broadband connection can be run through a PBX phone, allowing businesses to use the advanced features of VoIP and reap the benefits of these.

VoIP uses a broadband connection
Calls over a hosted VoIP network are free between VoIP sites. A business network runs from an internet connection, the calls are made through the internet and so there are no line rental costs or tariffs per minute. When VoIP calls are made to a regular PSTN line, the charges are minimal when compared to normal PSTN tariffs. Another money saving feature of hosted VoIP is the lack of expensive installation needed, these services are quick and easy to install and require virtually zero onsite support or maintenance.

Easy user interface
All features are controlled through and easy user interface. Even though the many features are advanced technology, using them is simple. All features can be accessed and controlled in real time. Also, the advantage of easy functionality saves time because no training is required. When time is saved, money is saved. Softphones (controls for using VoIP services) are run through a computer for simple and hassle free access to VoIP technology. Employees using VoIP can control who they receive calls from and at what times.

Satellite and global roaming technology
Satellite services and global roaming allows employees to stay in touch via their VoIP network. Employees can work from home whilst having access to all VoIP features available on their work network because they can remain on the work network, no matter what their location. VoIP phones can be programmed to follow employees wherever they go. This service is especially useful for business trips.

Worldwide Wi-Fi hotspots allow those on a VoIP network to access the internet, make calls and use all of the functionality which VoIP provides no matter where the employee is situated. If there are no Wi-Fi hotspots, calls are charged at the local rate. Conference calling is also a major benefit to business as world-wide conference calls connecting international clients and branches of businesses are low-cost yet high quality and reliable.

Greater network control
Greater control includes network set up and billing. IT managers need not worry about having to control a difficult and complicated network. VoIP is easy to use, requires minimal installation and offers quick and easy functions to control the entire network. Receptionists are still able to manage multiple incoming calls and direct them to the correct person across the hosted VoIP network.

Advanced fax and email functionality
Hosted VoIP services also allow for advanced voicemail, and fax functions. Voicemails can either be listened to through an audio play back or recorded as emails sent into the relevant inbox. Faxes are recorded as digital files and can be stored in an inbox and forwarded on as required.

These VoIP services allow for incredible communication solutions. Increased communication capabilities of a higher quality which have far lower operation costs and tariffs have the ability to transform a business into a powerful force. Efficiency and client satisfaction can be increased by businesses using hosted VoIP services.

The Future of Consumer VoIP: Leveraging Internet advances for profitable consumer voice services

It is important to distinguish between a profitable business that successfully sells VoIP services and a profitable VoIP business. Successful VoIP businesses are driven by other services the company offers, and by services that align with customers’ perceived needs – not by the VoIP business alone.”"

In the early 2000s, telecom industry experts widely expected VoIP to change the dynamics of the voice communications business. But a decade later, the largest providers of consumer Internet voice services are, with one exception, conventional telecommunications companies. Some are pioneers and innovators, some are not. What they do share, however, is a market strategy that doesn’t rely solely on price.

This report provides an overview of the current state of the consumer VoIP market, examines VoIP business successes and failures, and explores how evolving IP communications – mobility, convergence, femtocells, cloud computing, ultra-fast broadband, and open devices – are opening new opportunities for successful consumer VoIP services.

Key Insights
• The most profitable over-the-top VoIP providers are those that quickly leveraged their success into building their own networks.
• Successful VoIP providers offer multiple communications services, as well as services aligned with the key needs of targeted markets.
• Consumer VoIP is most successful in the most regulated (non-Communist) markets.
• The core network is still a key opportunity for service providers to differentiate.
• Telecoms have more natural advantages in the VoIP business than incumbency. They understand consumer expectations, and the migration to all-IP networks allows them to leverage network consolidation.
• The pressure is on VoIP service providers to make VoIP mobile. Driven by growing mobile handset capabilities and broadband subscriptions, and continued high prices for international calls, the market for mobile VoIP is developing quickly.
• The mobile handset is coming into its own as a platform for converged communications.
• The rapidly growing number of mobile smartphones creates opportunities to integrate voice interaction into a wide range of applications, as well as creating opportunities for other types of intelligent, converged appliances – reinventing the home phone, for example. Amazon’s Kindle e-book shows the opportunity for mobile communications-equipped “”appliances”" at mass-market prices.
• Consumers increasingly want services customized to their needs, preferences and priorities – giving VARs, software companies, and Internet companies, as well as voice service providers, opportunities increase their value to specific markets and customers.
• Emerging markets present big risks, but offer big VoIP opportunities because many people in these countries are bypassing conventional telephone service for mobile and VoIP.

Use this report to:
• Identify profitable business opportunities, strategies and markets for consumer VoIP.
• Understand what works and what doesn’t in the VoIP business.
• Analyze successful VoIP business models.
• Examine the challenges facing VoIP service providers.

Discover
• Who are the winners and losers in consumer VoIP?
• How many VoIP subscribers and broadband (wired and mobile) users are there in China, Europe, Japan and the US?
• Who are the key VoIP players in these regions?
• What are the opportunities in specific regions?
• How can providers leverage Internet evolution into specific services that consumers value?
• What are the challenges facing VoIP providers, and what are the strategies they need to meet them?

All you need is VOIP

The field of telecommunications is a dynamic. With the ever-increasing advances in technology, the products and services on offer also change rapidly. The new systems of communication have proven to be more efficient and utility- driven. This has made their popularity soar and enabled them to replace the conventional modes employed.

VoIP phone system is one of the latest offering on the block, which are though, similar to analog phones, but operate via PSTNs (Public Switched Telephone Network). The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology allows the users to make calls over the internet; all one needs is an active broadband connection to launch a call.

VoIP phone system, like its traditional counterpart, not only is similar in appearance but carries most of its features as well, like call waiting, redial, speed dial, flash, mute, space for storing contacts, volume control etc. Incorporation of traditional features provides for comfort and ease of use.

However, since these phones are specifically designed to make calls over the internet, they are also accompanied by VoIP gateways that convert analog signals into IP, for transfer over a phone network.

VoIP gateways are used to convert incoming analog signals to digital packets. Therefore, they allow calls to be received and transferred over the regular PSTNs; they also connect traditional phones to an IP network. These gateways therefore, have one port to connect to the IP network and another to the various analog phone lines.

Depending on the type of lines they connect, VoIP gateways have been divided into analog units and digital units. Analog units are employed to connect up to 24 analog phone lines to it. Alternatively, the digital units allow one or more digital lines to be connected with it.

A VoIP phones system provides for a number of advantages over the regular analog phones as well. Since the calls are made via the internet, the costs incurred are much less than the usual telephony. Not only this, the taxes that are applicable on the phone calls made over IP networks are negligible, further lowering the total costs.

The convenience that a VoIP phones system provides is unmatched. The users just need an active broadband connection to start a call with these phones. Various specialized features too are available with a VoIP service provider. These include voice mail, call waiting, three-way calling, call forwarding, caller ID among others.

An additional advantage with a VoIP phone service is that it does not require the users to change numbers on relocation. Again, the only necessary condition is the availability of a high-speed internet connection. Hence, VoIP phone services not only prove to be more efficient but highly affordable as well.

Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is the technology that allows voice communications over the Internet. The quality of voice over IP now is crystal clear and rivals the one of traditional telephone. The VoIP services from leading provider Vonage are subscribed by over one million users by 2006. It all started back in 1995 when a few hobbyists developed software for sending voice data packets over the Internet rather than communicating through standard telephone service, so they could make long distance calls free of charges. Early VoIP were marked by poor sound quality and connectivity. Besdies, it required both callers to have a computer equipped with the same software, the same sound card and the same microphone. In 1996, Vocaltec was the first company that released a commercial VoIP product found on the shelves of Compusa and other retail outlets.

By 1998, a caller could make calls to any standard phones from a PC with right hardware and software. Phone to phone service soon followed, but the phones were required to connect to PCs to establish the Internet Telefony. The same year, the VoIP landscape changed drastically when both the Internet hardware giant Cisco and major communication hardware manufacturer Nortel entered the VoIP market with hardware equipment that allowed easy switch between standard phones and the voice data packets on the Internet. The new hardware made the VoIP hardware less computer dependent. Eventually, the connection to VoIP with a router is just as easy as to connect to a standard phone outlet.

VoIP finally took off in 2000. It has become a mainstream alternative to standard telephone service since then. The growing acceptance of VoIP in both business and residential phone use is evidential in the phenomenal success of Vonage, a major player in VoIP market today. Vonage offered VoIP service to business communities in 2001 and signed its first residential customer in 2002. Year 2003 was marked by the first platform for 911 calls on VoIP software. Between 2004 to 2005, Vonage launched VoIP service in Canada, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom and other European countries. Vonage phone service charges a monthly service fee, and calls (local, long distance or international) are technical free or unlimited. With more than one million subscribers this year, Vonage continues to offer new services and plans to meet the needs of both business and residential markets. Some small businesses have started to take the advantage of the flat fee of VoIP plans. They now have an alternative to 1-800 numbers to interact with their customers.

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol and it helps to change the way of thinking to make long distance calls. Basically, VoIP technology translates analog audio signals (the sounds you hear when talking on your regular telephone) into a digital signal (which is then transmitted over the Internet).

One of the interesting components about VoIP is that there’s not just one way to make a VoIP call. There are actually three ways to make a VoIP call:

1. VoIP via ATA: VoIP ATA is the most commonly used VoIP method right now. Using the ATA (analog telephone adapter), connect a standard phone to a computer or Internet connection. ATA is an analog to digital converter, and it takes the analog signal to the phone and converts it into digital data and sends to the Internet so you can make VoIP calls.

2. VoIP via IP Phones: VoIP phone like a standard telephone. But a VoIP phone uses an RJ-45 Ethernet jack instead of the standard telephone RJ-11. Wi-Fi IP phones may be available in the near future, which will allow you to make VoIP calls from any Wi-Fi hotspot. This will allow you to take your VoIP phone with you when you travel, and stop in at any hotel or other location where you can use your Wi-Fi laptop and you can use VoIP technology to “phone home” from anyplace in the world.

3. VoIP via Computer-to-Computer: There is no charge for long distance calls and there are several software companies that offer free or low cost at this time for you to use VoIP technology. You just need the software, microphone, speakers, sound card and a cable broadband or DSL Internet connection, and you can start using the VoIP service immediately. Except for the normal monthly ISP charges, no charges for each VoIP call from computer to computer.

VoIP makes sense for the ROI. As per economic point of view, it may take a while, but eventually all existing circuit-switched networks, which are currently in use is replaced by VoIP technology to packet network. More and more businesses are already installing VoIP systems, and as VoIP technology makes its way into our everyday language, our lives, and our homes, it will continue to grow in popularity.

What You Should Know About VoIP Phones

VoIP phones are the phones used with Voice over Internet Protocol technology. VoIP is the technology used to transmit audio as data or Packets over the Internet to either a computer user or to a landline telephone. VoIP is increasing in popularity, as it is highly valued for its great quality, low cost, and incredible features. VoIP is gaining respect, as a viable solution for business needs as well. VoIP will allow long distance calls for either free or for just pennies compared to traditional phone services.

There are many different ways to use VoIP. For some services you will need a computer, a high-speed Internet connection, an Instant Messaging program, speakers, a microphone, a phone adapter for converting standard telephones into VoIP phones, or a VoIP phone.

When using VoIP services, you can simply use a microphone and speakers to communicate with your caller. You need a High Speed Internet connection to allow for your calls to be in real time, and you will also need a soundboard and computer that is up to date with VoIP technology.

You can also use VoIP technology by using Instant Messaging services that have voice options enabled. These include Yahoo Messenger with Voice, ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger, MSN, and even Google has started their own VoIP messenger. To use these VoIP messengers you will need a microphone and speakers connected to your computer.

VoIP phone adapters are another means of communicating with VoIP. A VoIP phone adapter will connect between your standard telephones, and your Internet modem. Your phone adapter will come with installation and user instructions. Generally, you will need to power off your computer, then connect the adapter to your Internet modem and then plug your telephone into the adapter’s phone jack. Power everything back up and you should be good to use your phone. You will need to make sure that you have VoIP service previously installed.

You can also purchase a VoIP phone, specifically designed for use with your VoIP service. VoIP phones come in both corded and cordless forms. VoIP corded phones come with many features. You can purchase a desktop phone that includes speakerphone, Call Waiting, Hold, Speed Dial, Transfer, and programmable keys such as Menu, Dial, Volume, Transfer, Cancel, and Headset or Speaker mode.

You can also purchase a 2 line VoIP corded telephone. Some of the features that come with a phone like this include Three Way Conferencing, phone to phone, or phone to PC, or phone to gateway direct dial. These phones are perfect for small businesses or for use in the home office.

Another popular choice in VoIP phones is the cordless VoIP phone. These cordless VoIP phones are not the same as VoIP wireless or VoWi FI phones. VoIP phones are similar to cordless standard phones. They will work in your house, but not outside, apart from your basic VoIP service.

There is another option and that is called VoWiFi. VoWiFi stands for Voice over Wireless Fidelity. This is the use of VoIP over a wireless connection. A VoWiFi phone operates by using a wireless network’s access point. The advantages of using VoWiFi, is that you can easily pick up network signals or “hotspots” for free. However, VoWiFi will not work if it is out of a wireless range, and immediately you will be terminated from your call. If you have a wireless network that you are local to, you will find VoWiFi to be a great advantage and extremely cost effective.

Because of issues with network connectivity, there are Hybrid phones available. A hybrid is a cross between a cellular phone and VoWiFi. A Hybrid will place your call when you are in your cellular network range, and then, to prevent roaming charges, can pick up free VoWiFi by entering a hotspot. This is a great combination of two technologies and time will tell where the hybrid phone will evolve in the future.

One thing is certain; VoIP is an advancement in telecommunications that is here to stay. Whether you use your computer, and Internet Messaging program, a VoIP phone adapter, VoIP cordless or corded phones, VoWiFi or Hybrids the future points to VoIP as the telecommunication method of choice.

Guide to Voip

VoIP is Voice over Internet Protocol. Standard telephone lines are referred to as PSTN or the Public Switched Telephone Network. PSTN works on circuit switching. A good example of circuit switching is the old switchboard operator who would connect callers to receivers by the use of electrical circuits. VoIP is Packet Switching. Packet Switching consists of data packets, or packets of information being carried across the Internet, from your computer to either another computer or PSTN telephone.

VoIP operates in different forms. For instance, you can use VoIP when you use an Instant Messaging program with voice on your computer. These are very popular and now Yahoo, AOL, MSN, ICQ, and even Google have VoIP Instant Messaging programs. The benefits of these programs are that they are free to download off of the Internet, and by using a microphone and your speakers; you can talk over the Internet with any of your buddies. As long as your friends and family members download the same program, you will be able to talk with them as long as you like, and absolutely free. You can talk to anyone, anywhere in the world with VoIP Instant Messengers.

Another method of VoIP technology is to use a VoIP service provider for your basic telephony needs. A very familiar company is Vonage. For a monthly fee, you will receive VoIP services, the same as you pay for your regular telephone services. You can choose to use your VoIP service over the Internet, or you can choose to connect your VoIP to your standard telephone. By connecting a VoIP phone adapter to your modem and standard phone, you will be able to use your VoIP service and your telephone as you would with any other telephone service provider.

Many people prefer to use a VoIP service provider because the cost of local and long distance calling with VoIP is very inexpensive. Many providers offer unlimited calling plans. There are other features that are often bundled with your service plan. Features such as Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Transfer, and 3 Way Calling are often included for free in your selected VoIP plan. By choosing your VoIP service provide and installing a phone adapter, you will be on your way to making low cost VoIP calls in minutes.

You can also purchase a specialized VoIP phone. These phones come in both cordless and corded styles. The cordless VoIP phones work the same as standard cordless phones.

Many of these phones also come with conferencing features and are suitable for small or home business needs.

Another form of VoIP telephones are the VoWiFi phones. These are wireless VoIP phones. This is the same technology as VoIP, only you are not limited to a plugged in connection. You can use your VoWiFi phone wherever there is a wireless High Speed Internet Connection. These phones are more expensive then mobile phones, and haven’t had all of the kinks worked out yet. However, they are still a cost effective choice for those who would like to save a little money.

VoIP has proved to be a viable source of telecommunications. Many companies are now offering VoIP services and those who aren’t have plans to do so. Companies such as Verizon and Sprint offer VoIP services. Other companies are working on creating VoIP phones and VoWiFi phones.

There are Hybrid phones on the market, which allow for both VoWiFi and Cellular calling. These phones have many people excited. They can work in a network range as a cellular phone, and then, they can work as a VoWiFi phone, avoiding all roaming charges.

The FCC has issued some regulations regarding VoIP and the ability to call 911. Because VoIP uses the Internet and not a landline phone, when a call is made to 911 from a VoIP connection, the operator who receives the call receives none of the caller’s pertinent information. This includes address or location of the call. Some service providers do not supply 911 at all; others have what is known as Enhanced 911 services. To use these services you may need to activate your service, as well as register your information with 911. However, you will need to sign a statement when you apply for your VoIP services stating that you understand your 911 capabilities may be limited.

Asterisk VoIP Hosted Pbx ? a Cisco Training Course

Rapid and trustful communication systems have become a norm in the modern world. For this reason, people are increasingly dependent on communication tools like the internet and the telephone which are the two major branches of the communication industry.

The telephone allows you to talk directly to anyone in any part of the world be it your friends, family or your clients. It is not only quick it is quite dependable too. This is such an important tool that now it has become one of the basic necessities in every home and business. Businesses depend quite a lot on this mode of communication and their life would get stranded without connectivity through a telephone.

The internet has also capture the world by storm through its ability to provide super fast and consistent means of communication. The amazing factor to the internet is all the applications that it offers for communication can be accomplished with very low cost. People can keep connected with other people through emails and chat.

The modern times has seen another advance in the field of communication by providing the latest communication tool, the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or the Internet Voice. This is very similar to talking over the regular telephone but it is much more advanced. This has become so popular in the modern times that people are seriously contemplating eliminating the use of the regular telephone and switching over entirely to the VoIP system.

VoIP is far superior to the conventional telephone in that it provides many more features and advantages which the latter cannot even dream about. VoIP is through the internet and the voice signals are converted into digital format and then transmitted to the other person. The digital format of the voice signals ensures that there is no loss of voice quality and the communication is quicker and crystal clear as compared to a regular telephone conversation.

A great attraction that VoIP provides is the cost factor. Using this system, a person can make long distance calls to any other place in the world at a very low price or even for free. When compared to calls made long distance over the regular telephone, the communication is much faster, clearer and much cheaper when using the VoIP service. So, you will end up with lesser bills over the month in comparison to using the regular telephone line.

VoIP provides other advantages too. Let us suppose you require a PBX in your organization. If you purchase one to be used with your regular telephone line, it will be quite expensive. But, if you purchase one and use it over the VoIP system, it will be much cheaper and highly consistent. The functioning of the PBX system is similar in both the modalities but if the PBX is used with the VoIP system, it will be through the internet rather than through the telephone line.

VoIP is easily obtainable in today’s times. You can find many service providers marketing the services on the internet who will provide business VoIP. But, if the purpose is to install VoIP system at home or if your intention is to make VoIP a career path, you will have to learn about setting up the VoIP system.

Installing a VoIP system is taught by Cisco Training Courses which has several such courses, one of them the Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX.

VoIP is beneficial for residential and business purposes. But, Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX is more suitable for big organizations in meeting their communication needs.

IP PBX is a powerful tool for communication within any office setup. Using this piece of hardware, the entire organization’s communication needs can be met and easily regulated.

If you are intending to take up VoIP as a career path, you need to contemplate about Cisco VoIP Training Courses. The advantage this course provides is the hands-on experience using the Asterisk VoIP Hosted PBX.
